David Nichols, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
David completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Brigham Young University with an emphasis in Sociology. He earned his Master of Social Work degree at the University of Utah with an emphasis in Forensic Social Work and Substance Abuse. David currently also works at a local hospital as the Clinical Director of a Psychiatric Unit treating individuals who are temporarily in danger to themselves or others.
David has experience treating children, adolescents, and adults, including couples counseling. He specializes in treating adolescents who are both victims and perpetrators of sexual abuse/sexually acting out, issues surrounding abuse and trauma, and those facing pornography and substance addictions. David also has experience treating a wide variety of mental health-related issues including depression, anxiety, bipolar, post-traumatic stress disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, personality disorders, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts/actions, chronic mental illness, as well as relationship difficulties. David empowers individuals to learn to help themselves through self-discovery, patience and hard work. His low-key approach and sense of humor helps create a safe environment for building trust and accomplishing personal goals. He uses a variety of cognitive-behavioral, motivational interviewing and dialectical-behavior therapy techniques.
David enjoys athletics, the outdoors, music, and spending time with his wife and two children.
