Emily Putnam, Ph.D.

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Emily completed her Bachelor of Science degree at University of California, Santa Barbara in Biopsychology and then earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in neuropsychology from Brigham Young University.

Emily specializes in working with children, but also loves working with adolescents, young adults, not-so-young adults, couples and groups; treating a range of concerns, problem behaviors and disorders, such as depression and anxiety. Emily  works to help people  live richer, fuller lives.   Emily believes that individuals and families hold the solutions to their concerns and the power to reach their greatest potential within themselves. She sees her work as collaboration in helping her clients reach this potential. Emily tailors therapy to the needs and personality of the clients, but frequently includes aspects of cognitive-behavioral therapy. She also has experience in relaxation training, hypnotherapy, and mindfulness. In treating children, parents are expected to be fairly involved and implement homework assignments at home as well, especially in behavioral modification goals, but also in helping young children cope with trauma, anxiety, or depression. In addition, Emily has extensive experience in neuropsychological and psychological assessments.

When not at the office, Emily enjoys caring for and going on adventures with her two young children and energetic dogs. Some of the activities they enjoy together are camping, hiking, playing at the park, and visiting museums (without the dogs). Some personal relaxing hobbies include cooking, crocheting, and enjoying nature.
